CATEGORY DESCRIPTIONS
ARBORIST- By definition, is an individual trained in the art and science of planting, caring for, and maintaining individual trees. Arborists are knowledgeable about the needs of trees and are trained and equipped to provide proper care.
CONTRACTOR- This category groups landscape contractors, gardeners, horticulturist, turf maintenance and pest management specialist together. These are the companies who employ talented individuals capable of installing and maintaining both residential and commercial projects. Their clients tend to be a mixture of homeowners and general contractors. Responsibilities include estimating, ordering plant material, grading, installation of irrigation, lighting, turf, plants and even hardscape elements. LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT AND DESIGNERS- The primary focus of this category is to distinguish professional designers from those businesses that install and/or maintain. The difference between these two specific disciplines is the degree of formal education and their recognized licensees to practice. Landscape Architects are recognized by the State with professional credentials and licenses and regulated by the Department of Professions and Occupations. SUPPLIERS- This category identifies nurseries, growers and other providers of horticultural goods which provide a product to be used in the landscape industry. |
